is a Japanese-inspired espresso and matcha bar in the heart of Vienna, Virginia — a モダン喫茶, a modern kissaten.
In Japan a kissaten isn't a place you rush. It's a room where a drink is made properly, set down in front of you, and nobody hurries you out of the chair.
That's the whole idea. A white sign, a wooden door, and a room that's quieter than the street outside.
One thing worth knowing before you come: the way in is round the back of the building, facing the parking lot. Plenty of people circle the front looking for it.

A paper lantern over the bar. A shelf of small things — a bonsai, a few prints, a plant that's doing well. Bare branches in a vase, the way you'd find in a Tokyo café.
Behind it, the machine, the grinder, the cups stacked and waiting. Everything on the bar is there for a reason, and nothing on it is shouting.
